Ray Lucas, a former star quarterback and NFL player, discussed his battle with addiction during a speech at Rutgers-Camden that was held in conjunction with Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day. Lucas struggled with opioid abuse disorder, which began as a way to cope with sports injuries and escalated to where he was taking 1,600 pills a month. Lucas now serves as a coach for Harrison High School and emphasizes the importance of speaking up and seeking help for addiction.
